Wes Sundquist, Center Director
Sundquist and his colleagues have been studying HIV structural biology and molecular virology for the past 15 years. Together with their collaborators, the Sundquist group developed the “fullerene cone” model for the organization of the HIV capsid, helped uncover the role of TSG101 and the ESCRT pathway in HIV budding, helped define the human ESCRT pathway, and determined the three dimensional structures of a series of HIV proteins and complexes involved in virus budding and assembly. Sundquist directs the Protein NMR, Eukaryotic Expression, and Virology Cores.
